[SOLVED] Hard limit of 1000

In all documentation I read the limit of 1000 concurrent users. Can someone tell me if this is a hard limit or is it based on performance of the hardware.
We are looking at the solution to create a live blog tool with the union server, so no real load on the software.

the 1000-connection limit is a licencing limit, imposed by the free version of Union Server. Union Enterprise has no per-machine limit, and has been regularly tested at over 10,000 connections per machine.
